The Spanish Program is pleased to welcome Dr. Bécquer Seguín as Assistant Professor of Iberian Studies. Dr. Seguín will also be affiliated with the Center for Advanced Media Studies and the Program in Latin American Studies. His research is generally concerned with the cultural, political, and historical events that bind Europe and Latin America and his current research focuses on cultural responses to economic crises in modern Iberia, from the nineteenth century to the present. He is completing a book on the cultural history of the Great Recession in Spain. Dr. Seguín has published in an array of scholarly venues and, in addition to his scholarship, contributes essays to The Nation, Slate, and other periodicals. We are delighted to welcome him to campus as a member of the faculty.
