Become a Member of Pi Delta Phi, the French National Honor Society

The Department of German and Romance Languages and Literatures is currently looking to fill the third class of the Pi Delta Phi French National Honor Society, Chapitre Xi Tau. We would like to offer the opportunity for membership to all students, sophomores and above, including graduate students, as well as faculty members.

Undergraduates do not have to be French majors or minors to join, but they must have taken at least one upper-level (beyond intermediate) French course at Johns Hopkins; graduate students must be pursuing degrees in French. To qualify as a Regular Member, you must have a 3.0 GPA in your French classes, a 2.8 GPA overall AND rank in the top 35% of your class. Honorary membership is available for those who do not meet all three requirements; it is also available for alumni and faculty at large.

The Department of German and Romance Languages and Literatures will collect the membership fees. If you are interested in becoming a member, please print and fully fill out the two parts of the Pi Delta Phi membership application form. The name of the chapter is XI TAU.

Once completed, please leave the form and a check by Thursday, March 13, at 5 p.m. with Philomen Allen, Gilman 401. The required amount is: regular membership: $30, honorary membership, $15. Checks should be made payable to the Johns Hopkins University.

The installation of the third class of the Pi Delta Phi French National Honors Society, Chapitre Xi Tau, will be on Monday, April 7, 2014, in the evening (hour and location to be decided).
